Rediscovering
Nelson by Colin White - the Annual John Warsop Memorial Lecture.
Colin White, formerly Deputy Director of the Royal Naval Museum,
will reveal the new insights he is uncovering into the life and
career of Admiral Lord Nelson in this year's John Warsop Memorial
Lecture, to be given in the Princess Royal Gallery at the Royal
Naval Museum in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on Saturday 26th October
at 2 pm.
In
his new post as Director, Trafalgar 200 at the National Maritime
Museum at Greenwich, Colin White has been scouring the Museum's
extensive archives, as well as travelling the length and breadth
of the country to study Nelson letters in private collections. He
promises that the results of this research will challenge the traditional
view of Nelson's battles and his relationships.
The
John Warsop Lecture is sponsored by the Friends of the Royal Naval
Museum and HMS Victory, in memory of Rear Admiral John Warsop CB,
a former Chairman of the Friends.
The
lecture is free, with tea and coffee from 1.30 pm. However, places
must be pre-booked by contacting:
